The 3rd World Congress of Transdisciplinarity will be held in Mexico City in 2020. The aim of this congress is to bring together the largest number of participants from various national and international institutions in order to study the latest theoretical and practical developments of transdisciplinarity and to imagine new theoretical models, experiences and actions to face the extraordinary challenges of the 21st century, such as Planetary Education, Transhumanism, Artificial Intelligence, Destructive Technologies, Health, Poverty, Destruction of biologic diversity, Climate Change, War, Violence and many other problems that afflict human beings and all living beings on this planet.

Objectives

  • To provide new transdisciplinary proposals that take in consideration epistemological, ontological, and methodological problems.

  • Discuss and deepen in the theoretical-methodological foundations of transdisciplinarity to generate new knowledge in order to help with solutions for socio-cultural, political, economic, and ecological problems of the 21st century

  • To evaluate the progress of transdisciplinary research carried out to solve technological, scientific and human sciences problems.

  • To propose new analytical transdisciplinary approaches, which would be able to evaluante critically the contradictions of the models of political and economic development, of technoscience, as well as complex transcultural processes and transhistorical processes.

  • To expose models of transdisciplinary consciousness.

It is of quite importance to state the relation between transdisciplinarity and different theories of complexity (in particular, with the theory elaborated by Edgar Morin). Both approaches – Complexity and Transdisciplinarity – were developed independently. There are, however, a number of epistemological, logical and ontological connections between these related fields of study which have to be clarified.

Our congress is aimed to educators, researchers, scientists, artists and craftsmen, social workers, PhD students and all interested people.

Modalities of participation

There are several types of participation in the 3rd World Congress of Transdisciplinarity, either individually or collectively: lectures, round tables, symposiums, micro-conferences, posters. Proposals for cultural, artistic, and spiritual activities** are welcomed, such as exhibitions, performances, meditation sessions, yoga, and rituals.

Proposal must be sent to the online manager via website no later than December 31st, 2019 (UNDER CONSTRUCTION OPEN SYSTEM CONFERENCE)

They, with no exception, will be submitted to a selection process held by the Academic Program Committee. The accepted proposals will take part of the Congress Program. The results of the evaluation will be announced as of January 20th , 2020.

**In this event, spirituality is considered in a broad sense.

Lecture papers

Participation consisting of 20 minutes of exposition and 5 minutes for discussion. The presentations can be individual or collective (maximum of two participants). Once the proposal is approved, the Academic Program Committee will organize the presentations in round tables depending on the central themes.

Requirements

To present a proposal for a paper, an abstract should be sent specifying the following: research questions, objectives and theoretical-methodological approaches. The extension of the summary is a maximum of 800 characters spaces included, 12- point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, in a single paragraph with no more than 5 keywords.

Round Tables

A round table brings together four papers to discuss a topic related to the thematic areas and sub-themes, where each speaker will have 20 minutes of exposition. At the end of the speakers' participation, 20 minutes will be allocated to open the discussion to the public. The round tables are created by the Congress organizers considering the central themes; however, it is possible for a coordinator to propose the holding of a round table.

Requirements

Participants must submit a summary of their paper, summarizing the topic that is addressed, including an introduction, body of the topic and conclusions. The extension is no longer than 800 characters with spaces, 12-point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, in a single paragraph and no more than 5 keywords. When a table is proposed, the coordinator must submit a summary with a maximum of 1200 characters spaces included, 12-point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, in addition to incorporating the summaries of the participating works in an extension of the summary to a maximum of 800 characters with spaces, 12-point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, in a single paragraph and no more than 5 keywords. Table duration: 1.45 minutes.

Symposia

The symposia are proposed by a coordinator who gathers 4 to 6 participants to discuss, analyze and deepen on a problem related to the central themes. The objective is for each participant to take part in the debate giving their point of view and presenting theoretical-practical presentations on transdisciplinarity. This means that not only the theory is addressed, but also the applications of transdisciplinary epistemology.

Requirements

The coordinator should submit a general symposium summary of 1600-character spaces included, with 12-point Arial font and 1.5 spacing, and should incorporate the summaries of the participating papers with an extension no longer than 800 characters with 12-point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, in a single paragraph and no more than 5 keywords for each summary. Depending on the number of participants, each speaker will have between 15 - 20 minutes of exposition, and at the end, 20 minutes for further discussion.

Duration of the symposia: 2 hours.

Microconference

Similar to a regular conference, the microconference consists of the presentation of a synthetic and in-depth proposal, related to an important problem of transdisciplinarity. This modality implies the complete exposition of an organized theme: presentation, body and conclusions. Duration: 20 minutes.

Requirements

To propose a microconference, the title, a description of the subject in no more than 800 characters with spaces, 12-point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, should be included in a single paragraph and no more than 5 keywords, in addition to the general information of thespeaker.

Posters

The poster has the objective of sharing knowledge and information about transdisciplinary work, through graphic experience. Contributions, methodology or results of transdisciplinary work must be presented clearly and concisely.

Requirements

Sending of a document containing the following aspects: objective, justification, methodology used and results, all this in no more than 800 characters spaces included, 12-point Arial font with 1.5 spacing, in a single paragraph and no more than 5 keywords. When accepted, participants must send posters in an electronic file JPG format, at 150 dpi resolution and at 50% scale of the original size. Posters for the Congress must be: 60 cm by 90 cm. If interested, a digital video no longer than 3 minutes in .mov format can be attached to expand information about the presented research. To do this participants must leave a blank space of 4cms by 4 cm for the inclusion of a QR code in the lower right corner of the poster.
